What a surprise!!!

My lovely wife told me a few weeks ago that we were going away for a weekend break, but wouldn’t tell me where we were going. This caused great anxiety, as she refused to tell me whether it was a one way or return trip….🤣

Anyway, we headed off after lunch, and I was instructed to head south-west. “Are we going to Cornwall darling?” I asked. “No!” Came a curt reply.

Well, after a couple of hours driving, we passed the ‘Welcome to Cornwall’ sign on the A30….. I wisely said nothing…..

We eventually pulled off the A30 and stopped at the ‘Jamaica Inn’.

I needed the loo and Denise insisted on taking care of the check-in process. We got the bags from the car, and then had a drink outside when shock #1 occured. My hat flew off with a little help from Andy ….

OK, so now Denise comes clean that our reservation couldn’t be found initially because it was in Andy’s name.

We finished our drinks and took the dogs for a walk to Golitha Falls

“Papa, Dis is fun”
The co-conspirators

Apparently, we had a table booked in the restaurant at 7pm, and so after a quick freshen up we headed off, got some drinks and looked at the menu.

Surprise #2 – Vicki and Jake suddenly appear. After the normal greetings we all had dinner together

A few more details emerged about the weekend plan. Apparently, we were meeting Vicki and Jake at the Cornwall Show in the morning then all going to see Yungblud at the Eden Project in the evening 😁😁

We said our good-byes and headed back to our room, where Callie and Alfie were chilling out.

After breakfast, Denise and I headed off to the Cornwall and Devon Show with the woofers.

“Mama, iz it treaty timz?”

We met up with Vicki and Jake, and listened to “The Fisherman’s Friends” who were brilliant. We couldn’t get in to the show, but managed to sit behind the stage which was great.

Denise asked me to slide down the bank on my belly to get a photo of their bums!! Really???

No bum notes here….

We then had a wander around the show

“Phil, would this saw fit in your workshop 🤣🤣”
“Denise and Vicki were mesmerized by the Iberian horse display

We left the show and dropped the dogs back to Vicki’s before heading off to the Eden Project.

Little did I know, we had VIP tickets, which included a FREE bar….. Some of you know that Denise doesn’t drink so it was down to me to get our money’s worth 🤣🍺🍸

Did I mention the FREE bar …🤣

We had a great view and enjoyed the support act, Crawlers.

The Eden Project is a stunning location for a gig
What a night…. Great music, and company

The only downside of this fabulous evening is that I now want VIP passes for all future gigs …… I have warned the bank manager 🤣

After dropping Vicki and Jake off, picking up the dogs and saying goodbyes we headed back to the hotel.

Sunday morning, we walked the dogs and had breakfast with Andy and Stella. We checked out, and apparently the staff weren’t happy with me….

“Peebs – Papa needs a good Stock Broker”

We headed off to Tintagel for a wander.

Then we headed to Boscastle.

A lovely weekend, with many, many thanks to my fabulous wife xx
